Bond Vote will be held TODAY - Tuesday, September 16 from 7am-9pm at the Ossining Public Library.
The Ossining Early Childhood PTA had a members vote and overwhelmingly voted to say "Vote Yes" on the Ossining Public Library Bond.
Our library is not only a place for books, it is a vital hub for children, families, and lifelong learning in our town. The proposed bond will ensure that the library remains safe, accessible, and welcoming, with updated facilities to better serve our students, educators, and neighbors for years to come.
As an organization dedicated to supporting young learners and their families, the OEC PTA believes that investing in the library is an investment in our entire community. Please join us in voting YES to support the library bond.

The Ossining Public Library is a "School District Public Library" chartered to serve residents of the Ossining Union Free School District, which is overseen by the School Board. While the library has its own independent governance, it is closely linked to the Board of Education because the Board of Education is responsible for holding any bond votes, which are necessary for the library to finance capital projects like building expansions.
Key Relationship Points:
- Charter and Governance: The Ossining Public Library is chartered by New York State to serve residents within the Ossining Union Free School District.
- Bonding Authority: The library is a "School District Public Library," meaning it cannot legally hold its own bond vote for capital projects. Instead, the Ossining Union Free School District Board of Education is responsible for arranging and holding these bond votes.
- Financial and Capital Projects: The Board of Education acts as the bonding authority if a bond vote passes, allowing the library to finance major projects like reconstruction or expansion of the library building, according to the Ossining Public Library.
- Shared Community: Both entities serve the same residents, as the library is a key part of the School District.
